Lucy rang the office and Miss Sharpe answered in her usual professional manner.

‘Oh, it’s you, Lucy, how are you my dear?’

‘Wonderful Miss Sharpe, thank you. But more importantly, how is Sophie doing?’ Lucy asked.

Miss Sharpe lowered her voice and glanced towards the room. She could see only the entranceway, but in the glass window she could see a reflection of Sophie wearing the glasses.

‘Very well, I would say at this stage,’ Miss Sharpe whispered into the phone piece. ‘She is sitting attentively, looking in charge. I’ve heard their voices rise and drop a bit so there is plenty of exchange going on.’

‘Well at least no one is running screaming from the room,’ Lucy agreed. ‘Thank you, Miss Sharpe. And how are you?’

‘I’m very well too, thank you for asking Lucy. I’ll be sure to tell her you called.’
